The shadows she saw on the lawn inspired her to spend months developing an approach that does not, however, paint the chosen object on canvas. In this way, the object is turned into an image. This happens especially with living objects or those that will perish for example, like fruits or humans. Alexa's style of painting is ephemeral and only the photographs of her work survive. Photographs and painting are coordinated to create a flat two-dimensional surface that is trompe l'oeil. Certain places three dimensions are observed, such as around the eye or on the hair. Meade sometimes incorporates painted models within the surrounding space. They are able to interact with this world that she created. The line that separates painting and photography can be dissolved.
